Fara Le Breton, PT, MSc, MACP
Master of Science in Neuromusculoskeletal Rehabilitation
Manipulative Association of Chartered Physiotherapists
Fara’s interest in movement and rehabilitation began as a dancer and then as a student working with the athletic training team at the University of California at Santa Barbara. She went on to obtain her degree in Physical Therapy with honors at the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Medical School campus. She immediately initiated her specialty working with an orthopaedic, sports medicine and performing arts population and has over 15 years of experience in this field.
Realizing she wanted to advance her knowledge even further, Fara was accepted, and completed, an advanced degree in Neuromusculoskeletal Rehabilitation at the University College London in England. In addition to her coursework and clinical residencies in London and Edinburgh, she completed a research study and thesis examining the effects of hypermobility, and subsequently published a review on hypermobility in dancers in The Journal of Dance Medicine and Science. Her high marks in this program earned her recognition as an advanced manual therapist by the Manipulative Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP).
Fara gained invaluable clinical experience at PT-owned orthopaedic practices in New York City and has worked backstage in NY and LA treating performers at numerous Broadway shows including The Lion King, Chicago, Oklahoma, Cabaret, Cats, Fosse, Aida and more. She has completed her certification in Pilates Rehabilitation with Polestar Pilates, as well as teacher training courses with Romana Kryzanowska and continuing education with Stott Pilates and Kinected. Her experience and regular post-professional coursework includes treating shoulder, cervical/thoracic/lumbar spine, ankle, knee, peri and post-partum rehabilitation, TMJ dysfunction, muscle imbalance, muscle energy techniques, rehab of the performing artist and ergonomic training. She is also certified in Fascial Movement Taping through RockTape and has completed coursework, including Back Education Training and Visceral Mobilization, through the Institute of Physical Art.
Most recently, Fara has had the privilege to train extensively under LJ Lee and Diane Lee in their Integrated Systems Model (ISM) of patient care, completing the Discover Physio Series in New York City. This is a whole person integrative approach aiming to assess and treat the true “driver”, or source, of pain and dysfunction, restore total body function and help patients reach their full lifestyle and performance goals. Fara’s passion for connecting with patients to help them take part in their own journey of healing and movement inspires her to learn more every day.
