Justine Picciano, PT, DPT, WCS
Justine graduated from Ithaca College with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree in 2013. While in graduate school, she completed a clinical affiliation at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL where she had the unique opportunity to practice women’s health physical therapy. This experience helped foster a passion for pelvic health, and she has since dedicated much of her clinical practice to helping women and men overcome pelvic pain, sexual pain, and pelvic floor muscle dysfunction. Justine has completed multiple post-graduate continuing education courses through the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute and Brook’s Rehabilitation, where she has developed advanced manual therapy techniques and become an expert in treating individuals with complex women’s and men’s health diagnoses. Through extensive training, individual study, and coursework, Justine has earned the distinction of board certified clinical specialist in women’s health physical therapy, as deemed by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.
As a former collegiate gymnast, Justine has a keen eye for seeing how movement influences function in all patient populations. From the high-level competitive athlete to the new mom on the go, she is able to prescribe specific, targeted exercises for all of her patients to help optimize movement patterns, decrease pain, and decrease risk for re-injury. As a Reiki practitioner, Justine also recognizes the importance of the mind-body connection, and incorporates powerful breathing and relaxation techniques into her treatments. These techniques allow the body to come to a state where it can truly heal.
Justine believes in empowering individuals by giving them the tools they need to heal themselves, including self-care and stress reduction techniques, exercises, and fitness tips. She wants to get to the root of the problem, and will do everything she can to help individuals find their path to healing.
